Joint holding of AGI and Choueiri Group and its impact.

Now that the two old opponents have joined forces, ONMEDIA looks at the implications of the newly formed joint holding between AGI and the Choueiri Group on the media market and the 2005 airtime negotiations.
The question of how balanced the media industry is has often been asked, with many pointing to a balance of power tipping in favour of media agencies. A greater level of sophistication, better access to tools and research, as well as a clearer focus are usually described as the media agencies’ advantage. On the other hand, media owners are seen as too divided, less driven by profits, and using counter-productive commercial policies.

David Aaker looks into changing markets.

By David A. Aaker
Business revolutions once had a bit of continuity to them. The Industrial Revolution lasted for decades, the post-industrial revolution had a solid 20-year run, and even the dot-com revolution persevered for a good five years. However, business and consumer marketers in 2004, did not seem to have that much luxury. Consumers and corporate buyers, more mobile and better informed than ever before, are increasingly able to get precisely what they want when they want it, at the price they are willing to pay. To meet these exacting desires, new and different products and services appear unceasingly. Entirely new categories and sub-categories come into existence almost overnight, as existing ones change or fade.

Independent Productions: 2004 Successes
Most of us take for granted the ads we see on television. So often, we find ourselves incited by the aired finished product, especially when it does not appeal to our taste – then we seem to look for someone to reproach rather than to praise – it is only human nature.
Even more so, viewers who found Pepsi ads appealing, which featured pop stars such as Elissa, Amr Diab and the Star Academy team, and the Panasonic ads featuring Amal Hijazi, or Yousra and Doreid Laham in Showtime’s ads among many others, may have never considered who was behind the making of these advertisements. Many people do not know how they were created and how much work and team effort it took to put together the final presentation.
Learn who is behind these ads and how they have reached the success they enjoy today, achieved through hard work, dedication, and passion for what they do - Independent Productions.
